“Do me this favor. I won’t forget it. Ask your friends in the neighborhood about me. They’ll tell you I know how to return a favor.”

Favors make the world go around. You scratch my back, I scratch yours.

You get favors by increasing your relationship with a business, or by completing missions for them. In return, a favor can be used for a variety of things, but it’s not used up until you actually confirm you want to use it.

“Do you know about any interesting events in the neighborhood?”AnyPuts a marker on the map and gives an introduction to someone who organizes a residential event.
“Do you know anyone buying what I’ve got for sale or selling anything I need?”AnyYou will now be able to see what a business previously marked as will want to buy, and enough relationship to do business. Possibly even a Favor to use. Doesn’t always work, not sure why.
“I could use a bit of support with a common friend. I know a word from you would improve my standing with them.”AnyImproves your relationship (often also granting a Favor) with a person of your choosing that they know. Including police officers.
“I’m looking to hire someone for my crew.”AnySee who they know that you may or may not want to join your crew. Check your crew listing window to find out where you can hire people with a certain trait if you’re looking for something specific. Need someone Organized? Don’t look for a needle in a haystack. Find out where they are from the crew list, then go straight there.
“Our outfit wants to expand our territory and take over this part of the city. I want you to run a front for us in your fine establishment.”AnyProvided you aren’t expanding territory somewhere, have a relationship of at least 15 (some will agree to less), and the owner isn’t Religious or Upright, you can see how much they’re asking to open a front for you. See Fronts for more details.
“Can you get me an in with some local troublemakers?”AnyIntroduces you to a nearby Corner Hooligan. Doesn’t necessarily give you a Favor with them, though.
“Think you could convince the businesses around here to show some support for my buddy who’s running a campaign right now? I figure you could remind ‘em that whatever’s good for me is good for them too.”Fronts only(Shadow Government) Available during the campaigning phase of an election year. Seems to count as a campaign action, but not if you run a campaign action first and then choose this.
”Could you spread the word about this new politician I’m supporting?”Any(Shadow Government) Available during the campaigning phase of an election year. A way of (hopefully) increasing the votes for your candidate.
“I’ve been thinking of getting into gambling. Do you know of any space that would be suitable?”Fronts only, 2+ FavorsWill show you a number of locations, and how many walk-ins you can expect, where you can set up a new gambling operation. If you have enough money on you (minimum $1500) you can use up the Favors and open one there and then. Otherwise you can look at it and come back to open one later. This option isn’t available if you already have a gambling operation in that precinct (two in Atlantic City) or only have one Favor.
“I could use a new building to expand our outfit’s operations. Heard of anything available nearby?”AnyShows you available buildings you can buy, their size and if they produce anything in the background. Problem is buying a building will soon cost you ~97% of all your total cash, and it scales up with the size of your outfit. So if you have $250k across all characters and buildings? A new building will cost you $244k. (Not a joke.) You’re usually far better off setting up a gambling operation and getting buildings from indebted gamblers, and helping politicians get elected.
“There are other outfits in town looking to cause trouble for us. If I’m going to protect this area, some weapons would certainly help. Can you discreetly ask around to see if you can find anything?”Fronts onlyWill get you a weapon. The availability of the Winchester rifle and Tommy gun will vary depending on the size of your crew, and how many of those weapons you already have. Tommy guns cost 3 Favors, not just one. There’s a similar option to this when talking to police officers.
“I could use some information about who’s selling what in the neighborhood. Would you be able to help me out?”AnyChoose either containers or construction materials. You will be told of a few businesses that will sell you either bottles/crocks, or construction materials.
