“A reputation takes a lifetime to build and only a second to destroy.”
All events in the neighborhood have a chance of giving you the same results, i.e. a mission to deliver alcohol or stoneware crocks to a business somewhere in the city, a low relationship level with someone is increased, you’re introduced to someone new (and a new part of the map is considered explored – saves Movement if you want to get over there), and if you still have skills to learn, you might get one in return for doing a delivery!
However, always check the target location before agreeing to do a delivery. You don’t want to have to schlep all the way over to the Bronx if your territory is in Queens – it will take that person off the board for 600+ Movement (months in-game), and the offer will have expired by the time you get there!
To see where events are, speak to a business that owes you a Favor: “Do you know about any interesting events in the neighborhood?” That makes the person’s location show up on the map. Go speak to them. The game will notify you when they are setting up an event.
When they are, you go there, pay the cost, and return at the given date. The game will notify you when it’s time. It doesn’t matter if you pay with one person and return with someone else.
If you have Shadow Government, attending a couple of events is how you get a Captain ready for promotion to the Operative role.
There are three different kinds of residential events, plus an additional two if you have the Bourbon Bootlegging DLC.
Dinner Party | Lunch Club | Poker Night | |
---|---|---|---|
Cost to join | -$varies (scales with territory size)¹ | -$200 (fixed) | -$400 (fixed) |
Waiting time | 4 weeks | 8 weeks | 6 weeks |
Requirements | Territory size 8 | Have had at least $2000 in cash at some point, location is inside territory | Have had at least $2500 in cash at some point |
Potential rewards + probability | Relationship buff: enemy 5% Relationship buff: other 5% Introduction to business 100% Unlock T1/T2 booze 100% Mission: Burning Desires 100%² | T1 booze skill 100% Mission: Homemade Booze Diversification 100% | Mission: Out of Town Trucks 50% “Permits” 50%³ (wip) |
If all else fails … | Introduction 1% | Introduction 1% | Introduction 1% |
²If you have Criminal Record DLC, this mission will add a fireplace to your office.
³No idea here either. Settings file indicates paying -$100 and a permit will be added to your safe house – which clearly doesn’t happen.
Dinner parties eventually cost thousands, so I usually prefer the other two.
It’s possible the next two are switched off by default. They both have “turn this off pending localisation” as a comment for the first requirement in the settings file. I would need to look into it more to make sure.

²Grants Bourbon Counterfeiting, a.k.a. the mission that will let you learn Bourbon Bottling.
You can tell when it’s time to put on the fancy clothes and attend by the little symbol underneath the location marker, plus you will get a start of turn notification. You need to go there with someone before the end of that turn or you will have missed the event and lost out on its potential opportunities.
If there’s no one left on the whole map for the event host to introduce you to, the event function will break at the point of “I’m here for [the event]” stage. You’ll know, because your crew member can only repeat that sentence and nothing progresses. Leave, and ignore all further event invites. There’s nothing you can do.
